Muay Thai Kickboxing is the national sport of Thailand, boasting an enormous presence as a one of Asia’s leading martial arts.

Muay Thai has been practised around Australia for many decades, however the sport has exploded over the past few years thanks to the globally broadcast television series, The Contender.

Heralding 16 of the world’s greatest middleweight fighters vying for a US$150,000 prize, the reality-based TV show featured three Australians: John Wayne Parr, Soren Monkongtong and Bruce Macfie.

Since it’s launch, the show has been a huge hit with audiences all over the world. Many Australians have taken to Thai boxing not only to train as fighters, but also to keep fit and have fun.
